Brooklyn
The most largely populated of the five New York City boroughs and the second largest in area, which has occupied the same boundaries as Kings County since 1896. Until it was annexed by New York City in 1898 it was an independent city and subsequently it continues to maintain and promote its own distinct culture. It is also home to relatively large concentrations of ethnic minorities.
