A situation involving any of the following. A single response produces both a reinforcer and a punisher (approach-avoidance conflict); two or more incompatible responses each produce a different reinforcer (approach approach conflict); or, each of two or more incompatible responses terminates or avoids only one of two or more different aversive stimuli (avoidance-avoidance conflict).
