A device that removes gas from the mud coming out of a well when a kick is being circulated out.
Industry:Oil & gas
Relatively small-diameter pipe that is run into a well to serve as a conduit for the passage of oil and gas to the surface.
Industry:Oil & gas
A drilling mud that contains entrained formation gas, giving the mud a characteristically fluffy texture. Gas cut mud may cause a lowering of mud weight.
Industry:Oil & gas
A special connector used to connect lengths of tubing.
Industry:Oil & gas
A device installed in the tubing string of a gas-lift well onto which or into which a gas-lift valve is fitted. There are two common types of mandrel. In the conventional gas-lift mandrel, the gas-lift valve is installed as the tubing is placed in the well. Thus, to replace or repair the valve, the tubing string must be pulled. In the sidepocket mandrel, however, the valve is installed and removed by wireline while the mandrel is still in the well, eliminating the need to pull the tubing to repair or replace the valve.
Industry:Oil & gas
An arrangement for producing a well in which one wellbore penetrates two or more petroleum-bearing formations. In one type, multiple tubing strings are suspended side by side in the production casing string, each a different length and each packed to prevent the commingling of different reservoir fluids. Each reservoir is then produced through its own tubing string. Alternatively, a small diameter production casing string may be provided for each reservoir, as in multiple miniaturised or multiple tubingless completions. See dual completion.
Industry:Oil & gas
1. (obsolete) a mud pit in which a supply of drilling fluid is stored.
Industry:Oil & gas
An arrangement of slips and packing rings used to suspend tubing from the tubing head.
Industry:Oil & gas
A device installed on a gas-lift mandrel, which in turn is put on the tubing string of a gas-lift well. Tubing and casing pressures cause the valve to open and close, thus allowing gas to be injected into the fluid in the tubing to cause the fluid to rise to the surface. See gas-lift mandrel.
Industry:Oil & gas
A highly compressible, highly expansible mixture of hydrocarbons with a low specific gravity and occurring naturally in a gaseous form.
